Technique: mixed technique

Printing: risography

Format: A3

The work was created because the refugee issue was very preoccupying for me around 2015. As a self-employed person, it was not possible for me to get involved as a volunteer. Nevertheless, I was looking for a form of processing, and this was found where my strength lies: in a visual work.

After a lot of research and numerous discarded sketches, the zine of illustrations was finally created, accompanied by a mixture of factual and poetic texts. Although the zine has an almost historical character with its strong connection to the refugee movements in 2015, it always remained topical: the topic kept going, like recently the burning Moria refugee camp.

Sarah Furrer from Zurich spent her childhood in San Diego (USA). In Lucerne, she graduated from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and gained work experience in various agencies in Zurich, Bern and Berlin. Sarah Furrer has been working as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator since 2014. Her preferred working materials are black markers, acrylic and ink.
