Poster A2

November poster 2019

For the monthly poster 2019, Wassili Widmer (*1992 Heiden) presented the Kunstverein with a series of ink drawings that were created in a loose sequence over the past three years. Under the title «Red over traffic lights», the artist assigns the figurative motifs to an absurd ordinariness: a ball devouring itself or a mysterious bird. They reflect fundamental themes of the worldview that Widmer deals with in his artistic work and encourage the viewer to develop a possible narration.

The Kunstverein St.Gallen has been promoting, collecting and promoting fine arts since 1827. He was a key force behind the founding of the Kunstmuseum St.Gallen in the 19th century and promotes fine arts in the city and region of St.Gallen. With the annual contributions, its members directly support its activities and thus enable the preservation and development of a cultural identity.

With the monthly posters, the Kunstverein St.Gallen supports young regional artists by making their work visible in public space. Every year, artists are commissioned to develop a subject for each of the twelve months of the year. The result is printed on posters in A2 format and displayed on poster pillars in the city of St.Gallen on a monthly basis.
