According to legend, 1400 years ago a monk preached for several days without food in Nanjing, China. God was so touched by his sincerity and loyalty that he praised him with thousands of colorful flowers falling from heaven. The moment the flowers touched the ground, they turned into colorful stones.
Nowadays we find these stones in the Yangtze River in Nanjing. In reality, such stones are made of minerals such as quartz and other silicates. The constant action of the water polishes the stones and brings out their beauty. Because of their contrasting markings and bright colors, Riverstones are very popular collector's items.
