Size: approx. 12x12cm

Material: virgin wool, back made of gray felt

Type: Cut-pile

Like all of our carpets, the “circles” are hand-tufted with love and are unique pieces. Our circles come in two different versions and look good as a wall, tree decoration or on a beautiful table.

Cleaning: If necessary, the carpet can only be wiped with a damp cloth (and possibly a little soap).

What is “tufting”?

Tufting refers to a process for producing carpets in which the threads are attached to a carrier fabric by needles (English tuft = tuft, nap, pile). The process comes from the USA.

The tufting process for making carpets is fundamentally different from knotting or weaving carpets. When tufting, the carpet is not made row by row, but is loosely pierced into the fabric in sections using a tufting gun. If the carpet backing fabric has been “tufted”, one of the carpet backs is glued over the entire surface. This ensures that the loose pile threads cannot come loose again. The carpet is then provided with an additional backing. Thanks to this special manufacturing process, even particularly detailed motifs can be worked out carefully and cleanly. Curves are also not uncommon in hand-tufted carpets.

Our small studio in Basel consists of Si-yü Steuber and Susanna Filep. We have been working together since 2013 and are continually discovering new creative paths.

We paint plates and jugs, illustrate posters and postcards, as well as pins and badges. We also like homemade burgers, good design, awkward fonts and neon colors.
